Man stabs wife with fish cleaner knife

The government has charged a man from Vatia, for stabbing his wife with a fish cleaner knife at their home on June 9th.
The man who's held on bail of $50,000 is charged with first-degree assault, which carries a maximum sentence of ten to 30 years or life imprisonment.
According to the government's case, the defendant stabbed his wife’s shoulder while she was watching TV with her son. The defendant who was intoxicated was apparently angry that she had helped a couple acquire a loan.
Earlier the defendant was outside yelling at her but she ignored him. She was startled when he entered the house and stabbed her with a fish cleaner knife. The physician who treated the victim said she received a wound 8 centimeters deep.
The defendant will be back in court next Thursday for a preliminary examination.
