Swine flu test results expected tomorrow

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

The Unified Health Command hopes to learn by tomorrow the test results of the five highly suspected cases which were sent to Honolulu for testing of the swine flu virus.

The samples were sent on the Hawaiian Air flight on Sunday and according to Medical Director Dr. Ivan Tuliau there’s a 72 hour turn around time provided the lab is not too busy.  He said the LBJ Hospital lab should be informed of the test results tomorrow.

The five people had been kept in isolation in their homes for a seven day period.  Dr. Tuliau said the five all tested positive for Type A flu which has the same symptoms as the HINI or swine flu.
