Coast Guard allows 30 days for Sili overhaul

Thursday, June 25, 2009

The US Coast Guard has granted Port Administration a 30 day extension to have the MV Sili drydocked and inspected.

The inspection is to be held every two years and was due in March. But upon Port Administration’s request, the US Coast Guard granted a 90 day extension which expired on June 18.

Last week the Coast Guard granted a 30 day extension to have the vessel dry-docked and inspected. Provided the Coast Guard sees a good faith effort by ASG towards having the Sili repaired, it would also consider another 30 day extension for the vessel to be inspected, if additional time is needed.

The Coast Guard says it has not been informed as yet of Port Administration’s plans to have the MV Sili dry-docked. Repeated calls to the Director of Port Administration Matagi Ray McMoore regarding the Sili have not been answered.
