American Samoa has 8 confirmed cases of the HINI or swine flu. Of 33 specimens tested at the Hawaii State Laboratory 8 returned positive results for swine flu.
Medical Director at the Department of Health Dr. Ivan Tuliau said the results were received this morning. He said the eight cases have gotten over their flu. They are all local and are adults.
The Unified Health Command held an emergency meeting this morning will be reporting American Samoa’s first positive cases of swine flu to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and to the World Health Organization.
Residents are advised to continue following the recommendations of the CDC and WHO to help stop the spread of these cases.
Cover mouth when coughing or sneezing, wash hands thoroughly, stay away from large gatherings if you are ill. If you feel very sick, please seek medical advice from your physician.
