Governor will not lift ban on 10 year old cars

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

The ban on the importation of vehicles manufactured prior to 1999 is now in effect.

Governor Togiola announced on his radio program that any vehicles which violate his executive order will be shipped out at the owner’s expense.  In May, the governor issued a limited waiver to allow in vehicles manufactured prior to 1999, which were shipped from their port of origin by March 31 and landing here by May 30.  The waiver announcement also spelled out that effective June 1st, any vehicle which does not comply with the ban on ten year old vehicles will be prohibited from entering the territory.

The governor made clear on Saturday that there will be no further exceptions to the ban on ten year old vehicles.
