Man in court for assaulting girlfriend

The government is looking into filing assault charges against a teacher accused of assaulting his girlfriend and members of her family.
According to the government’s case Laulu Taetuli had an argument with his girlfriend outside her house and she ran in and locked the door. He allegedly punched the door down waking up the victim’s family. The police report says Laulu entered the home and ignored his girlfriend’s mother’s orders to leave. He allegedly threw a punch at the victim, and missed and hit her mother instead.
A sister of the victim hit the defendant with a Samoan headrest or ali and he allegedly hit her with a chair.
Laulu is charged with public peace disturbance however the government is looking into filing additional felony charges. Laulu’s next appearance is next week Monday.
