Separate bill for clergy vote is coming
Monday,
April 28, 2008
Governor Togiola has added to the list of items for the Special session, any other matters that the Fono feels should be discussed.
It’s under that general agenda item that a compromise for the military voting bill will be introduced. Senate President Lolo Moliga said this morning that a separate bill will be introduced to allow church ministers and their dependents to cast ballots absentee in the election of the Governor and lt, governor and House of Representatives. This would allow the military absentee voting and registration bill to move forward without the provision added by the House to include clergy in the list of voters eligible to cast ballots absentee in local elections. A conference committee met this morning to discuss the military voting bill.
