An attorney has warned that a fad which is spreading like wildfire in schools and villages can result in assault charges.
Children and young teens are rolling lavalava and creating whips from them. The attraction is the sound that it makes. Attorney General Faamomoi Masaniai sounded a cautionary note that if some is injured from the makeshift whips, the person responsible may end up facing assault charges if the injuries are serious enough. Masaniai is urging parents, church ministers, matai and teachers, to discourage the whips. He said some one could likely lose an eye from the material whips.
