BYU hopes to boost student numbers from Am Samoa

The President of Brigham Young University, Hawaii Dr. Steve Wheelright and Dean of Admissions Arafata Meha want to reverse the decline in student enrollment from American Samoa at the Laie university.

There are only 15 current students from American Samoa on the BYU roll, which is a significant drop from several years ago. Dr. Wheelright who became president of BYU Hawaii in July of last year discussed today with Governor Togiola an internship program that the university is starting to help e students return to their countries and work.
