Pago Pago man charged

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

The government has charged Pago Pago resident Tigilau Fagota with unlawful possession of controlled substances and aiding and abetting.

The charges stem from a police raid of Fagota’s residence last month. Court affidavits say that police found drug paraphernalia including materials used to grow marijuana. Also found in a red ford explorer, which police seized were loose green leaves, enough for one joint, which tested positive as marijuana. According to the court documents the defendant’s brother told police that he was tipped off by a taxi driver that a  police officer was taking photos of the residence. Suspecting he was under surveillance, the defendant is said to have removed marijuana plants form his home. A witness told police he saw ten fully grown marijuana plants growing in white beef kegs and many baby plants in white foam cups in the defendants home three months ago. Bail for Fagota was set at $18,000.
