Afoa tells youth their views are important

Candidate for Governor Afoa Moega Lutu told a youth rally Saturday that the message he has heard loud and clear from young people is that no one is paying attention to their needs.  

Afoa said the consensus is "the government has not addressed effectively the problem facing young people or making an effort to develop other avenues for the r youth, aside from football or military careers." The youth are also crying out for a Sports complex and job opportunities. Afoa said the views of young people are important and if elected he will listen and to and make use of their suggestions.

Afoa issued an invitation to student body presidents to meet with him as soon s the new school hear begins next month, he said the student leaders will be part of a task force he will establish to make recommendations on improving services for the youth. The task force study and recommendations will be incorporated into a report that would be submitted within the first 100 days of the Afoa Velega administration. Afoa also promised a sports complex that will cater to all sports and be accessible at all times, reform the educational system to equip high school students to be competitive anywhere in the world, overhaul the scholarship program and strengthen academic , sports, arts and technology curriculums so that these subjects are taught from kindergarten to high school. Another promise was to set up a youth job corps program that will assist young people to find jobs.
