Thursday,
July 24, 2008
Former cop Papalii Marion Fitisemanu has waived his rights to a probable cause hearing in District Court and his case is bound over to the High Court.
He faces five counts of embezzlement and unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon. The government alleges that Fitisemanu, while in charge of the police evidence room, removed five weapons that were in custody and sent four to the Samoa Police Commissioner. He allegedly kept the other one, an AK-47 assault rifle at home. The weapons have all been returned. Fitisemanu, who’s out on bail of $20,000 will appear in the High Court tomorrow.
