Writers have open mike
Thursday,
July 24, 2008
In literary arts, writers from half a dozen countries are presenting their work.
The opening night last evening at the Executive Office Building ground floor was sparsely attended. Fagaitua High School performed a choral recitation which wooed the crowd and a dance group from the Oceania Center for Arts and culture at the University of the South Pacific mesmerized the audience. Sia Figel a member of the Literary Arts Committee for the festival, an author of award winning books herself invites the public to their next readings tomorrow 6pm- 9m also at the EOB. This is an open mike for local poets, novelists and writers. One of the works featured is by a former faculty member of the American Samoa Community College.

Dr. Sele’s memoirs are about being a Catholic and a faafafine in Fagatogo. The USP dance group directed by Allen Alo will also perform at the readings tomorrow.
